Who we are
Marcus (marcusbot.com) is operated by Paperfoot AI Pte. Ltd. This policy explains what we collect and why. Keep it simple: we collect the minimum needed to let you talk to Marcus, bill fairly, and prevent abuse.
What we collect
- Account — your email and name, or the basic profile from Google if you use it to sign in.
- Voice — while you’re talking, your microphone audio is streamed to ElevenLabs to power Marcus in real time.
- Conversations — ElevenLabs records each call (audio and transcript) and keeps it for up to two years. That record is what lets you replay past conversations from Settings when signed in. If you create a share link, we copy the part you chose to our own storage.
- Marcus’s memory — if you’re signed in, after each call we send its transcript to an AI model (Google Gemini, through OpenRouter) to write a short private note: the name you gave him, a few facts, and the jokes he has already used on you. It is stored with your account so he half-remembers you next time. Topics like romance, health, crises, children, identity groups and real tragedies are left out of it.
- Usage — minutes used and conversation duration, to meter your balance.
- Payments — handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Technical — a one-way hashed form of your IP (never the raw IP) for abuse/trial limits, plus cookies (a login session cookie and a free-trial cookie). No third-party ad tracking.
- Site analytics — our own first-party counts of page views and steps like starting a call or opening checkout, tied to a random visitor ID and a hashed IP. We honour Global Privacy Control, and no analytics company receives it.
How we use it
To run the conversation, let Marcus remember signed-in visitors, keep your minute balance accurate, process purchases, enable sharing, prevent abuse, understand which parts of the site work, and respond to support. We don’t sell your data.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run Marcus, each under their own terms:
- ElevenLabs — real-time voice AI (your speech + Marcus’s replies) and call recordings.
- OpenRouter and Google (Gemini) — writing the memory note after signed-in calls.
- Neon — database and authentication.
- Stripe — payments.
- Google — optional sign-in.
- Vercel — hosting and shared-conversation storage.
Retention
We keep account data and Marcus’s memory of you while your account exists; deleting your account deletes both. Shared conversations stay until you (or we) delete them. ElevenLabs keeps call recordings and transcripts for up to two years. Hashed-IP trial records are kept only as long as needed to enforce limits. Ask us to delete your account, a shared conversation or a call recording at any time.
Your choices
You can sign out, delete shared links, and request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us. Your browser also lets you clear cookies and revoke microphone access.
Children
Marcus isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
